About FaithPlace
What is “placemaking”?
We define placemaking as the multifaceted practice of planning, designing, building, stewarding, investing in and advocating for good places including buildings, streets, neighborhoods, towns, and cities.
Who makes up the Christian placemaking community?
The primary members of the Christian placemaking community include:
-
Practitioners | subject-matter experts in the natural and built environment and how to shape it in ways that serve people, communities, and creation (e.g., planners, architects, engineers, urban designers, developers, contractors, etc.).
-
Stewards | individuals or organizations responsible for stewarding the natural and built environment that primarily includes real estate and capital (e.g. churches, land owners, investors, developers, government, non-profits, etc.)
-
Supporters | anyone willing to advance the cause of making better places
While this community is primarily focused on Christians, we partner with many different people outside the faith that are willing to make better places together.
What is a
“Christian placemaker”?
Christian placemakers are people who seek to make better places, inspired by their faith in God, the example of Christ, and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
What is the purpose of FaithPlace?
Our mission is to gather, equip, and mobilize Christians to make better places.
-
Gather | bring members together to build up an inspired Christian placemaking community
-
Equip | provide members with the knowledge, skills, network and resources they need to make better places
-
Mobilize | send members back out into the world to love God, love their neighbors through placemaking
Our vision is to create an empowered community of diverse Christians in North America planning, designing, building, stewarding, and revitalizing the built environment to be beautiful and life-giving.
